The Mormon Delusion: Vol 1

The Truth Behind Polygamy and Secret Polyandry

A shocking and disturbingly little known fact, which is hidden from Mormons, is that their early leaders practiced polyandry (women with multiple husbands) for no theological reason. Polyandry has been confirmed by the Mormon Church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) as being contrary to Mormon doctrine. Whitefield provides evidence that polyandry was practiced by the founder of Mormonism, Joseph Smith; apostle Brigham Young (who became the second prophet); and apostle Heber C. Kimball; if not others. Evidence is conclusive. The Church offers no theological explanation for the behaviour of these men who doctrinally forfeit their eternal salvation for their actions.

The Mormon Delusion is a series, exposing the real truth behind the Mormon Church. In this first volume, Whitefield compares the reality of early Mormon polygamy with the fiction the Mormon Church teaches members. Aspects portrayed as fact by the Mormon Church are exposed as entirely false. The reality was a far cry from the way things are now portrayed. Polygamy, which was illegal, was originally hidden from members and the public alike. Lies and false scripture obscured the truth for almost two decades in the early Church, until the terrible truth was finally publicly announced in 1852. Until then, most members had no idea that it even existed, accepting assurances that it did not.

Whitefield uses his analytical skills in a unique and refreshing approach to his work, which academic historians often fail to achieve. Although writing from an atheistic standpoint, he skilfully allows readers to judge Mormonism from either a Christian or non Christian point of view. This work is a hard hitting, impassioned exposé of the truth behind Mormon polygamy and little known polyandry. This is not a one sided, sugar coated book of Mormon fiction such as the Church produces. It is pure unadulterated evidenced truth which the Mormon Church hides from members so they won’t ask questions for which there are no theological answers.

Praise from other authors for The Mormon Delusion - Volume 1
Jim Whitefield’s THE MORMON DELUSION: The Truth Behind Polygamy and Secret Polyandry is an excellent book for casual and serious readers. It presents new information about the secret and shocking aspects of early Mormon marriage.

Mormonism’s founder, Joseph Smith, secretly married over thirty women; some already married to living men, and had sexual relations with many of these women without the knowledge of his single “public” wife Emma. Most Mormons know nothing about this as it is left out of the one-sided histories Mormons are spoon fed by their church. After 43 years as a dedicated Mormon, Jim Whitefield was astonished to learn the true history of plural marriage as practised by Mormonism’s earliest leaders. In a thoroughly researched and “tell it like it is” approach Whitefield details the murky origins of plural marriage and its tragic consequences in the lives of numerous Mormon women.

The title of this book, The MORMON Delusion, Volume 1, and the four companion volumes, The MORMON Delusion, Volume's 2, 3, 4, and 5 are aptly named. In these five volume's Mormonism is shown to be a hoax of proportions so enormous it challenges the imagination.

As you read Whitefield's meticulous research you come to realize in its beginnings Mormonism was an event of time and place by a man whose genius, charm, and pathologic morality answered to one God; The art of the possible. What Joseph Smith could get away with he recklessly pursued. His genius was most evident in how he justified his actions and behavior.

Volume 1 is a study of Mormon polygamy and secret polyandry practiced by Mormon Church leaders in the early church. Most know that Brigham Young, second President and prophet of the Mormon Church, had multiple wives. Few realize that his predecessor, Joseph Smith, also practiced polygamy. Even fewer know that Smith was marrying women not divorced and living with their husbands, a behavior defined as polyandry.

The Appendix A through N are replete with a detailed accounting of early Mormon bigamy, complete with references. Whitefield makes it easy to follow the bigamous habits of not just Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, but all of the early church leaders.

The impression that hit me the hardest after finishing this first of 5 volumes is how thorough the Mormon Church indoctrinates its members. It is a conditioning that begins at the cradle forming a cognitive focus incapable of seeing its own limitations. Never was I more impressed with the fact that our culture is the reality though which we view the world. To break free of that mind set, as Whitefield has done is truly remarkable. Most evident while reading was the author's attitude. From PREFACE through AFTER THOUGHTS his treatment of this subject was open minded and fair. I couldn't recommend The MORMON Delusion Vol. 1 more highly.
